Supervision

You did it

You finally obtained your clinical master’s degree! Now you are faced with the daunting task of finding a clinical supervisor to complete your licensure training. This person needs to have the depth of training and experience required to effectively help you hone your new skills. It’s also important to feel a connection with your clinical supervisor, as the mentoring process will be most effective when you feel comfortable enough to express any thoughts or feelings you have during this process.

The Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential identifies those mental health professionals who have met extensive national professional supervision standards. Currently 15 states, including Colorado, recognize the ACS as a supervision credential of choice.

I have over 13 years of experience doing both individual and group therapy in various settings, including private practice, community mental health, and non-residential addiction treatment agencies. I offer individual and group supervision for mental health professionals who are working on their required work experience. In addition to acting as an ACS, I have a thriving private practice that I built over the past decade.

I can help

If developing your own private practice is one of your goals, I am also happy to set aside time to advise you toward that end.

The ACS credential guarantees that your supervisor will do the following:

  • ensure the safety of both you and your clients

  • understand and resolve various ethical issues that may come up

  • identify and sharpen your unique strengths

  • work on identified areas of weakness

  • develop a personal therapeutic stance in your own practice

  • practice a variety of therapeutic techniques and methods

  • hone skills in documentation and note-taking

  • teach how to develop treatment plans and perform assessments

What does Colorado require for LPC Supervision?

The State of Colorado requires that candidates must acquire at least 100 hours of supervision for 2000 hours of work experience. Of these supervision hours, 70 must be individual supervision and up to 30 can be group supervision. Please inquire about availability for both individual and small group supervision services.
